Job Opening for Technical SEO Specialist + Content Writer
Lizard is a fast-growing digital marketing agency focused on driving measurable growth for residential and commercial service companies. We specialize in SEM—Paid Search, LSA, SEO—and deliver strategies that make our clients the obvious choice in their markets.
Position Overview
We’re looking for a smart, detail-oriented Technical SEO Specialist + Content Writer who knows their way around site audits, schema markup, AI-assisted content, and building SEO Strategies. You’ll be part of Team Whole Foods — our in-house creative and SEO department—working closely with developers, designers, and account managers to improve rankings and drive organic leads.
Key Responsibilities
Technical SEO (40%)
- Conduct SEO audits using tools like: Screaming Frog, SEMrush, and GSC
- Implement on-site technical fixes (crawl errors, broken links, site speed, etc.)
- Manage and optimize schema markup (JSON-LD preferred)
- Review site architecture for crawlability and indexation issues
- Oversee proper setup and maintenance of Google Analytics, GA4, and Search Console
- Collaborate with dev team to implement tech recommendations on WordPress & custom sites
- Conduct competitive analysis and track keyword performance
Content Writing (60%)
- Write optimized long-form and hyper local service content (web pages, blogs, location pages)
- Use AI tools like ChatGPT to assist with outlines, rewrites, and ideation—but not blindly
- Ensure all content aligns with client tone, SEO strategy, and local keyword focus
- Stay current with AI search trends (Gemini, SGE) and adapt content for future search
- Work closely with strategy team to plan and execute content calendars
Qualifications
- 2+ years experience in Technical SEO and Content Writing
- Deep understanding of modern SEO practices (post-HCU, Gemini, SGE, etc.)
- Proficient with WordPress, GA4, Search Console, Screaming Frog, SEMrush, and other core tools
- Experience using AI tools like ChatGPT for SEO content (and knowing their limits)
- Clear, concise writing style and strong editing skills
- Ability to work independently and hit deadlines without hand-holding
- Agency experience is a big plus
