The Basics:
- Growth Plays is hiring for an SEO Account Manager based in the US to support and project manage ongoing customer engagements and relationships.
- This role is ideal for a well rounded B2B SEO with excellent people and project management skills.
- You will work closely with clients and internal teams to ensure that all deliverables and ad hoc requests are sent on time and to specification.
- Salary range: $85-105K per year DOE, plus home internet, coworking space, and necessary office equipment.
- 40 dollar a month stipend for coffee and snacks.
- Full time role, with health, vision + dental benefits (where 90% of health insurance is covered by us)
- Matching 401K (after 6 months, up to 4%)
- FSA option
- 3 weeks PTO
- That’s 15 days vacation of your choosing, and then we shut down fully the last week of the year.
Your Background & Skill Set:
- You are an experienced agency-side SEO professional with a background in B2B, particularly in SaaS and/or developer tooling.
- (in house experience is a plus, but several years of agency experience is required)
- You are deadline-conscious, proactive, and able to communicate effectively with customers on all things SEO, technical and editorial.
- You have strong project and time management skills. You are organized and love to create and maintain process.
- You do not take on an “it depends” SEO mentality or speak in broad hypotheticals. You know how to ask the right questions to get context so you can make recommendations based on potential impact to their goals and the budget/resources available.
- You can identify and diagnose straightforward technical issues and explain why and how to remedy the issue:
- i.e. dealing with broken links, XML sitemap issues, broken images, page load speed problems, redirect chains, poor internal linking, low CTR due to suboptimal meta data, duplicate content, indexation issues, etc. is a breeze for you.
- Another team will be putting together the deliverables, but you are able to QA and explain the work.
- i.e. dealing with broken links, XML sitemap issues, broken images, page load speed problems, redirect chains, poor internal linking, low CTR due to suboptimal meta data, duplicate content, indexation issues, etc. is a breeze for you.
- You have a track record for moving accounts forward and creating success with SEO in terms of traffic, leads, and closed-won revenue.
- You can speak on SEO in front of executives and clearly demonstrate your expertise — but you also know how to role up your sleeves and get your hands dirty and create wins on your own.
- Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to draft clear emails, decks, and strategy documents, and to shoot async videos (via Loom) to walk customers through issues and solutions.
- Notion experience is a major plus. We run on it.
The Role:
- You will be working with a portfolio of customer accounts to help them prioritize and execute on strategies put together by the team.
- You will be aware of technical site health for all customers (using Ahrefs), and reach out to customers when severe SEO issues go live.
- You will help customers track progress for newly launched pages by building dashboards in Data Studio, as well as manage monthly reporting.
- You will run all recurring customer meetings.
- You will be aware of all internal bottlenecks and proactively surface issues that will hold back on time delivery of customer work.
- You will have support from the technical team + an SEO analyst for any projects that require additional support, but we’re looking for someone who can do the work on their own – and speak to it.
- Able to provide suggestions for on page SEO at the URL and page template level to improve rankings and conversion rates.
- Proactively create customer delight by finding quick wins and new or missed opportunities.
- Communicate regularly with clients to provide updates on campaign progress and discuss strategic opportunities for growth + review content briefs and new content as it goes live.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in SEO, and apply this knowledge to improve client campaigns.
Qualifications:
At least 4 years of experience in SEO + account management, preferably supporting B2B software companies.
- In-depth knowledge of SEO best practices, including technical SEO, on-page optimization, and links (but you will not do any link building or outreach in this role).
- Strong analytical skills and ability to dive into data to build a business case. Data Studio experience is a plus. Tag manager experience is a serious plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships. You should have a track record of getting accounts to renew.
- You are comfortable using Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, ClearScope (or other topic tools), Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and Looker Data Studio.
- If you know how to use HubSpot and/or marketing attribution tools – that is a major plus.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
- Proven track record of driving results through successful SEO campaigns.
- You are engaged in the SEO space and stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and innovations.
The Culture:
- We are a small, but thriving consultancy. Everyone’s work makes a direct impact on customers and the bottom line.
- Because we prioritize deep focused work, we also prioritize recharging and taking care of yourself.
- We are big on focus, accountability, and autonomy. Everyone works in a self directed manner, and workdays are typically filled with bursts of focused work, with short, impactful meetings (mainly 1:1s and customer calls) mixed in.
- We are always going to be remote, and we want someone that thrives in a remote environment.
Expectations:
- You might get pinged on Tuesday at 7:10am, but you aren’t expected to be online all the time. No one produces 8 hours straight a day, breaks are healthy, life happens, kids miss the bus, and honestly, sometimes sleeping an extra hour makes a world of difference. We ask for a same day turn around time with non-urgent emails and messages. As long as work is done on time or early, your time isn’t our business.
- Flexible working hours – with the expectation of 40 hours of meaningful work a week.
- There is one annual trip, coming up in March/April.
About Growth Plays:
- We are a team of 10 FTEs with a few contractors thrown in the mix and we have a track record for creating wins. We develop SEO-backed content strategies that enable companies like LaunchDarkly, Heap, Front, Cortex, Lattice, Postscript, Podia, and many others map their buyer journeys to content and keywords and tie everything to the funnel.
- You will be working with interesting, best-in-class, well funded B2B SaaS companies that have budget to execute ambitious content strategies.
Interview Process:
- 20 minute call screening.
- 2 hour paid assessment.
- Reference checks with former managers or skip level managers.
- Final round of interviews with several team members
