Search Engine Marketing Manager (Based in LA or San Francisco)

Ketchum is seeking an entrepreneurially-minded individual with a passion for online search engine marketing to help run Ketchum’s day-to-day search marketing (SEM) operations including SEO, PPC, paid online advertising and mobile search. Candidate must demonstrate the capability to learn on-the-job, as well as have the capacity for significant expansion. This candidate will not only be tasked with executing the technical side of search marketing, but will also be required to lead several business marketing initiatives, including: contributions to new business proposals, creation of collateral materials, generating thoughtful blog posts, interfacing with clients and account teams, etc.

Responsibilities:

Be an agency expert in SEM best practices, especially SEO
Demonstrate a bigger picture understanding of client’s overall marketing objectives
Grow client revenue by selling (up-sell / cross-sell) solutions and ideas in organic and paid search
Partner with Account and Media teams to ensure synergies with search and media campaigns
Manage regular SEM client presentations and strategic discussions
Engage in all facets of clients’ search media campaigns, including initial planning, implementation, monitoring, optimization, analysis and reporting
Work with superiors to develop initial process documentation, materials and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) collateral to present to clients
Monitor the overall performance of organic and paid search efforts and report key information to senior executives
Identify performance targets, project milestones, resource needs, etc.
Manage all aspects of search marketing campaigns, such as conducting site audits, developing search recommendations, generating traffic reports, and counseling clients on next steps
Maintain and optimize current search engine partnerships
Ability to analyze and forecast ROI of SEM campaigns
Understanding of best practices in SEO and ability to collaborate with developers, strategists and account teams to create contextual metadata
Ability to become an evangelist for search and educate internal and client groups about SEO / SEM
Familiarity with using SEM for crisis management situations
Ability to manage relationships with vendors to execute buys and manage organic search programs
Mentor and train new Search Strategists

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required; relevant focus preferred (e.g. Business, Computer Science)
Strong entrepreneurial mindset
3-5 years of hands-on SEM experience, primarily in SEO
Hands on experience with Google Analytic installations and modifications
Knowledge of other analytic systems (Omniture, Radian 6 and social media analytics helpful.)
Knowledgeable about how to optimize social assets for search
Extremely knowledgeable in SEM optimization techniques and campaign monitoring
Comprehensive understanding of keyword research and link building techniques
Organized and detail-oriented
Personable and patient to work with both clients and team members
Demonstrated understanding of strategic marketing, business and financial principles
Ability to represent and promote the company in a professional manner
Ability to develop and motivate a team and promote collaboration with internal departments
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Natural leadership, motivational and organizational skills
